EngView Systems Launches EngView Package Designer Suite Release; Download Available for Registered Users
(February 2010, Sofia, Bulgaria) EngView Systems has made available for download a minor release of its packaging industry software, EngView Package Designer Suite version 4. The release, 4.3.25, is available for download for registered users on the company's website.
Below is a list, by modules, of the main improvements and new features.
General EngView Package Designer Suite has a rearranged work folder, which offers samples of frequently encountered jobs. These are listed in the EngView Samples folder.
3-D module
Improvements have been added to the way Package Designer follows the folding sequence of 3-D representations. A folding sequence now begins at a starting position which reflects the packaging item's original state, from which the individual steps are then set.
Further, to enhance the realistic appearance of 3-D models, the flutes in a corrugated design as well as color properties can now be set to the material. The viewing of a 3-D image can be improved by setting either the image’s properties or its environment, or both.
PDF templates that animate a 3-D model have been made customizable. Now, when files are exported as PDF, the default logo that is embedded into the available templates can be changed with any BMP file.
Drafting module
The EngView Library of Resizable Designs has been expanded. A full ECMA code has been added. A library search functionality now lets users locate a file by entering its name or parts of it. For a clearer view of the connections between parameters, parameter dependances are now highlighted when a parameter is selected in the Component Parameters table during the attachment of the components to the current design.
Complex styles which incorporate several style characteristics have been added in the drafting module. Such styles are zipper and wave.
Layout module
During positioning of layout one-ups, the layout can now be rotated at 90 degrees to represent an alternative array, to help users find a better sheet utilization. This can then be saved in a different layout drawing. Also, the sheet can be trimmed to match additional optimization criteria, such as width and height.
CAM module
The interface for setting a tool has been enriched with a set of advanced properties for every particular tool.
Users can now explicitly set the side of the material which will undergo processing by a tool. Also, during the processing of the material, to avoid damages and to ensure precision, the cutting tool can be set to enter and exit the cutting contour by smooth leading in and out of the material.
For better positioning and aligning, images set in the one-up design can now be viewed in the CAM drawing.
Users can define their own tool path. The manual setting of a tool path can be done according to a specific design, a zone, a layout one-up (part), a chain or a tool.
Print presentations module
In a print presentation, the statistics about the length of the used styles can now be viewed in a special table-format legend. In it, each style is indicated in a different color and pattern. The set of predefined print frames has been expanded to include more than a dozen templates according to the different print sheets. Several blank print frame templates have been added to correspond to different sheet sizes.
Enhanced file compatibility
Package Designer can now import and export DDES3 (.dd3) files. Diemaking module
The generation of stripping dies has been optimized and made easier. A front stripper tool is now generated when stripping dies are being created. New bridge templates have been added that conform to the BOBST standards.
