Setting default materials

When you open an EVD file created with a version earlier than EngView the program runs a test on the design to determine the material out of which the project was created. When the base type of the material has been recognized — folding carton cardboard, corrugated board and inverted corrugated board (ICB) — the program uses the material of the recognized type that is set as a default. The visual properties of the source project override those of the default material.

NOTE: Only the three base types that come with the program can be set as defaults — folding carton cardboard, corrugated board and inverted corrugated board (ICB). Materials that are created on custom-made base types cannot be set as default materials.

To set default materials

  1. On the Format menu, point to Materials Catalog, and then click Default Materials.

The Default Materials dialog box appears.

  1. In the list of each base type — Folding Carton Cardboard, Corrugated Cardboard, and ICB — select the material that you want to be the default one for the type.
  2. In Imported files, select the material that the program will load as default for files imported into EngView projects.
  3. To complete the procedure, click OK.
