Exporting 3D models as GLTF files

File name Click the browse button and select the directory into which you want to save the exported file.

Phases Phases of the 3D folding sequence that will be included in the upload, as well as at which phase the file will open.
Animation
  • First The animated sequence begins from the phase set here.
  • Last The animated sequence ends with the phase set here.
  • Initial Sets the phase that the 3D model starts with.

IMPORTANT: The phase starts at the selected phase's end state. That is, if you want the animation to start at the beginning of a phase, in Initial select the name of the previous phase: its end state coincides with the initial state of the phase you need. --End-- indicates the end state of the phase set in Last.

Still Scene The exported file displays a still scene of the folding sequence as selected in the Initial phase.

Settings Set the grade of quality of the applied artwork and textures in the exported file.
Artwork quality Sets the quality in which you want EngView to export the textures on the 3D model.

TIP: You can set a quality size of up to 16k, but before setting a size, make sure that the video adapter that will be displaying the exported file supports this quality size.

Allow multiple texture coordinates Controls how EngView will distribute textures across surfaces of the 3D model — with multiple coordinates or without them. The decision involves trade-offs and largely depends on the viewer that will be used for opening the exported file. Consider the following:
  • Selecting the check box. The model is exported with (1) higher texture quality, (2) viewable finishing effects (emboss, deboss) and (3) in smaller file size. 3D viewers that reproduce the 3D model well in this mode of export are, for example, Play Canvas glTF viewer and Blender.
  • Leaving the check box empty. The model is exported with lower texture quality but with viewable finishing effects (emboss, deboss). A downside here is that the file size is larger. 3D viewers that reproduce the 3D model well in this mode of export are, for example, glTF Viewer and Creators 3D.

Export measure lines Select the check box to export the measure lines added to the 3D drawing.

IMPORTANT: When the check box is selected, the measure lines are exported regardless if you have elected to hide them in the 3D work area.

View file after generation Select the check box if you want to view the file has been generated.
