CAM

By using the computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) functionality, you can make samples of a package design. EngView finds the optimum tool path in order to minimize cutting time. You can filter objects and associate them with the appropriate tools. You can drive the NC machine directly through the COM port, or export the NC code to a file. The program offers animation of the cutting process, tracing the tool path. This is important as a final verification step before cutting. The CAM postprocessor can be used to operate your samplemakers.

Customization

You can customize the generated NC code for different type of CNC controllers of NC machines. You can have free customization as part of the initial system setup process. This guarantees that EngView CAM will work with your samplemaker correctly. The NC postprocessor contains a configuration file that provides HPGL output. All HPGL-compatible devices can then be driven through the generated file.

Processing creases

CAM templates feature an option for generating multiple creases. When you are working with tougher material, the creasing objects must be processed several times to allow eventual folding. An additional option is to assign multiple creases with or against grain.

In working with CAM, you can now define CutCrease drawing type. EngView switches the creasing and cutting tools of the samplemaking machine to produce a cut-crease rule effect on the sample box. You can generate tool paths and cut-creasing line counters for samples that you produce on a samplemaking plotter. The counters are channels cut in the place of the creasing lines cut out in the same material as the sample. Once this is done, another sheet of the material is placed atop the counter sheet to cut the actual sample. When the creasing wheel goes over the creasing lines to produce the sample, it sinks deep into the pre-cut channels. This results in much better formed creases on the sample that are similar to real creases produced by a cutting die and counterplates.

CAM environment

You can export the CAM environment settings (cam.ini; NCS; CMT files) as a single file and send it to technical support, and vice versa. You can also import a CAM environment from a single file.
