Cutting, copying and pasting objects
You can cut, copy and paste geometric objects, such as print parts, design frame parts and layout parts, as well as the dimensions set to them.
To cut an object
- In the graphical area, select the object, part or dimension.
- Do any of the following:
- In the graphical area, right-click in a blank space, and then click Cut on the context menu.
- On the Edit menu, select Cut.
To copy an object
- In the graphical area, select the object, part or dimension.
- Do any of the following:
- In the graphical area, right-click in a blank space, and then click Copy on the context menu.
- On the Edit menu, select Copy.
NOTE: When you copy a dimension, ensure that you copy also the objects to which it has been set.
To paste an object
- Open the drawing in which you want to paste the copied object.
- Do any of the following:
- In the graphical area, right-click in a blank space, and then click Paste on the context menu.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste.
NOTE: The object is inserted at the same coordinate position as it was in the drawing you copied or cut it from.
NOTE: When you paste a dimension, ensure that you copy also the objects to which it is set.
Notes
- You can only copy and paste objects between nonresizable 1up, layout and print drawings.
- You can copy and paste objects between nonresizable 1up, layout and print drawings both in the same project and in different projects.
- You can copy objects from nonresizable 1up, layout and print drawings in Package Designer and paste them into EngView Synergy project drawings, but not the other way round.
- When you cut or copy an object, it is stored in the Windows clipboard in a metafile format, allowing you to paste the copied object in any appropriate application that supports metafiles — for example, MS Word.
