Saving Library designs after editing

Once you have opened and edited a design, you proceed to save it for future reference. You save edited designs as.evd files.

NOTE: All designs in the Library are in the .evr format. After editing a Library file, you can save the modified file as an .evd project only. After you have saved the file, the .evr file you started from remains unchanged.

To save an edited Library design as an .evd project

  1. After you have finished editing the Library design, do any of the following:

The Save As dialog box appears.

Save As Dialog
  1. In Look In, navigate to where you want to save the edited file.
  2. In File Name, type a name for the file.
  3. In Files of Type, select the software version in which you want to save the file.
  4. Click OK.

SAVING .EVR FILES: If you have a license for ParametricComponentDesign, which is the module for creating parametric templates, you can open the Library's .evr designs and modify them and create new resizable templates. In this case, the EngView will not allow you to save the original file that you have modified. Just save the modified file with a new name. If later you upgrade your installation and Library, this file will not be overwritten. To open an .evr for editing, on the File menu, click Open, navigate to the file you need, and load it.
