Creating base components

About base components

A base component (base) is the foundation to which you attach single and/or compound components when:

• Assembling resizable templates (.evr files).
• Creating production-ready structures (.evd file).

Design tools

The design tools that are used to create and modify a single component include geometric objects, transformations, relations, dimensions, parameters and the Solver.

Control points

Base components have no control points.

To start creating a base component

1. Do any of the following:

• On the File menu, point to New Parametric Component, and then click Base Component.
• On the tools panel, click New project , and drag down until you see a list of components.

2. Click Base Component.

An empty drawing appears in which you will be drawing the base.

Changes in the interface

Notice that the user interface's icon are now red.

3. Begin drawing the base component, setting the necessary geometric relations between the component's objects, dimensions and parameters.
4. Check if the structure is well-constrained.
5. Make the parameters Global.
6. When you are done, save the base (.evb file) in the Synergy Components folder.
