Exporting structural files from Illustrator

If you need the structural design of the layout, which you want to use in Prinect to continue with production — for example, cut a sample or to design diemaking tools — you need to export this information from the Illustrator (.ai) file.

The exported file is an Prinect drawing (.evd) file.

NOTE: The procedure that follows exports an Illustrator file as an Prinect structural drawing. After the export, the two files (.ai and .evd) are not connected. This means that changes in one of them are not reflected in the other file.

To export a structural file from Illustrator

  1. Open the Illustrator file.
  2. On the File menu, click Export.

The Export dialog appears.

  1. In the left pane, browse to where you want the Prinect to export the files.
  2. In File name, type the name that you want the exported file to have.
  3. In Files of type, select EngView Structural Drawing (.evd), and then click OK.
