Adding Braille text for visualization

You can add Braille text to your design that you can inspect in the 3D representation.

IMPORTANT: Using Braille lettering in Prinect serves only visualization purposes in 3D representations; it will not appear on produced structures: the Braille characters will appear in an exported 3D PDF file, but not in an exported production file.

A Braille font is a combination of a Braille code, which defines how Braille characters (letters, numerals, punctuation marks) are visualized, and a Braille standard (a size and spacing specification), which defines the diameter of the dots that form the characters, the dot-to-dot distances, row-to-row distances, and other properties.

To add Braille text

  1. Do one of the following:

A contextual edit bar appears above the graphical area.

  1. In the contextual edit bar, in the text area use lower-case letters to type the text that you need.

NOTE: The letter size that you can type depends on the alphabet you have chosen. It must contain a description of the letters. For details, see Designing Braille code (alphabet).

  1. In the Braille code drop-down list, select the code that you want to use.

NOTE: Your installation comes with one Braille code file — EBU Pharmaceutical — developed in conformity with the European Braille (EBU) Code.

  1. In the Braille standard drop-down list, select the Braille matrix that you want to use for the text.

NOTE: The matrix that Prinect distributes is ECMA Euro matrix. This is the standard ECMA Euro Braille, which the European Carton Makers Association has specified in pursuit of establishing a common standard across the countries of the European Union. It is based on the Marburg Medium Braille size and spacing specification, which is recommended by European and North American standards for pharmaceutical packaging and labels.

  1. After you have typed the text, use the mouse to drag it wherever in the graphical area you need it to be, and then click to position it.

The Braille text is added to the design. Note that a layer named Braille has been generated automatically and has appeared as a layer in the tabular area (in the Layers section of the Layers & Objects tab). Learn more about how to create layers.
