EngView compatibility update for macOS 27 coming soon

EngView compatibility update for macOS 27 coming soon

EngView users working on Macs with Apple silicon are advised to delay upgrading to macOS 27 Golden Gate for the moment.

We are currently preparing a compatibility update of EngView Package & Display Designer for macOS 27 users. It is planned for release during the week of 5 October 2026. Once installed, the update will allow users to move to macOS 27 and run EngView software smoothly.

If you have not yet updated your macOS, we recommend waiting for the upcoming EngView release before you do that.

If you have already upgraded to macOS 27

After upgrading to macOS 27, users may need to reinstall Rosetta before EngView software can start normally.

EngView currently uses Rosetta to run on Macs powered by Apple silicon. After a macOS 27 upgrade, you need to reinstall Rosetta before EngView can start normally.

According to Apple's macOS 27 release notes, Rosetta is not automatically restored after the operating system upgrade if it was previously installed.

Rosetta is Apple's technology that allows applications using Intel-based components to run on Apple silicon Macs. It works automatically in the background once installed.

If EngView does not start after the upgrade, follow these steps:

  1. Open Terminal on your Mac. You can find it under Applications > Utilities > Terminal, or search for Terminal using Spotlight.
  2. Enter the following command:

softwareupdate --install-rosetta--agree-to-license

     3. Press Return and follow the instructions displayed on screen.

     4. Once the installation is complete, start EngView again.

You can also find Apple's official Rosetta installation instructions here.

Once you upgrade to EngView 2026.3.9

With EngView 2026.3.9 for Mac, if Rosetta is not installed when you start the software, EngView will automatically prompt you to install it.

The process is quick and does not require you to download Rosetta separately. Everything needed to start the installation is included with the EngView setup.

If you need help with the installation of Rosetta or starting EngView software, please contact EngView Support (support@engview.com) for assistance.
