An action is the basic movement that is directly associated with a particular panel. Actions determine how a panel will fold in a folding sequence; in a multi-part folding sequence, actions determine also the movement of the inserted part.
An action is part of a step. This means that to create an action, you have to have created a step.
Learn how to create actions.
Below, learn more about the various types of actions and how you can use them.
The actions in this section fold panels.
The panel moves like a hinge to assume a new position. You set a folding angle in Angle or in the slider. The folding range is [-180, 180].
The panel folds at 180 degrees and then reverts to its initial position. The purpose is to dent a crease channel into the media, which guarantees easier folding later.
Folds a panel along a cylinder or partial cylinder. The folding occurs along the cylinder defined by the set radius. On the slider, the angle range is dynamic and is computed automatically from the width of the panel. The two endmost values define the cylinder needed to make the two endmost edges meet and thus form a full cylinder.
This action is available when there is a set 3D Guideline in the 1up drawing. The action folds panels along a cone or a cylinder. The folding occurs along a sweep of a cone/cylinder. The angle (sweep) range is [-360, 360 degrees]. At an angle (sweep) of 360 degrees the bent panel will form a full cone/cylinder. At 180 degrees, the panel will bend to form a half cone/cylinder. The two endmost values define the cone/cylinder needed to make the endmost edges meet and thus produce a full cone/cylinder.
The actions in this section control how attached structures panels and inserted objects move to assume the needed position.
The structure moves parallely relative to the surface against which it is attached. You set an angle (in Angle) and distance (in Distance or in the slider). The distance range is computed automatically from the overall dimensions of the 3D model. The two endmost values are mere suggestions: You can set a greater distance in Distance.
The structure moves perpendicularly relative to the surface against which it is attached. You set a distance in Distance or in the slider. The distance range is computed automatically from the overall dimensions of the 3D model. The two endmost values are mere suggestions: You can set a greater distance in Distance.
You set an angle (in Angle) and distance (in Distance or in the slider).
These actions apply to parts in assembly 3D drawings. You use them to animate how individual parts folds to form a whole complex structure.
This action provides animation of the part up to a specified phase of its own folding sequence. You select the part and then select the phase in New Phase. EngView then performs the actions in the phase as they are set in the structure's individual 3D drawing.
Identical to Construct but the animation is the folding sequence in reverse.
The Show action makes a hidden part or external object visible again and makes it available for further assembly. Available if the Part Initial Visible property is not set for the inserted part or if it was hidden with the Hide action (see next).
The Hide action hides a part in the 3D area.
Idle is not a real action, but the initial state of a panel, to which you set other actions. It can be applied to both categories of actions.
