About clip path (bleed) conflicts

Clip path conflicts appear in layout drawings and are the result of the overlapping of the bleeds' border areas of the individual layout 1ups. These conflicts are resolved in the layout drawing. You enter the conflict-resolution mode by clicking ClipPath Conflict Resolution on the Layout toolbar and then choosing a technique in the contextual edit bar that appears.

How conflict resolutions work

By applying a conflict resolution method, you modify the overlapping applied bleed contours and bringing them to a state in which the final bleed contour satisfies the requirements of correct application of bleed on the layout. Very often one bleed zone is reduced while its opposite is expanded.

Choosing a conflict resolution method can vary depending on the project at hand and how the layout is arrayed. That is why any single conflict resolution approach is nothing but a suggestion.

Performing conflict resolution

You can perform conflict resolution in two ways:

  1. Open the layout drawing.
  2. Click Clip Path Conflict Resolution .

A contextual edit bar appears above the graphical area with the controls for making conflict resolutions.

24 Split Path With Line Applies the Split Path resolution technique.
25 Draw Split Path Draws a path spliting the conflict in half.
27 Modify Bleed Applies the Modify Bleed resolution technique.
28 View Images Switches on and off the display of images applied onto the panels.
29 Clipped Images Displays the images applied onto the panels in their clipped state.
  1. Inspect the conflicts, and decide the conflict resolution techniques that you will use.
